Which equipment approvals does Castrol Hyspin AWH-M 46 carry?
Castrol’s product data sheet classifies Hyspin AWH-M as DIN 51502 HVLP / ISO 6743-4 HV and lists it as meeting DIN 51524 Part 3, Cincinnati Milacron P70, Denison HF-0, US Steel 126 and 127 and Eaton (Vickers) I-286-S and M-2950-S for the appropriate viscosity grade. It is the high-viscosity-index counterpart of Hyspin AWS 46.

What is Castrol Hyspin AWH-M 46 used for?
Castrol’s data sheet names two applications: outdoor equipment subject to cold start-up and high-temperature continuous running — off-highway and marine — and indoor manufacturing equipment whose control systems need minimal viscosity change with temperature, such as precision machine tools. Excavators, cranes, agricultural and forestry machines, and mobile plant in Lagos, Accra or Johannesburg all fall in the first group.
For stationary industrial hydraulics at a steady temperature, the standard Hyspin AWS 46 is the usual specification.
Is Castrol Hyspin AWH-M 46 the same as Hyspin AWH 46?
Hyspin AWH-M replaced the earlier Hyspin AWH range and is the current product; it is the shear-stable, high-viscosity-index HVLP grade. It is not the same as Hyspin AWS 46, which is the standard HLP oil for indoor systems at a steady temperature.
Do not confuse it with Hyspin AWS 46 (standard HLP) or Hyspin AWH-M 32 / 68 (neighbouring grades). We will check the grade you ask for against your equipment before we quote.
What are the equivalents to Castrol Hyspin AWH-M 46?
If you are consolidating brands across a site, the like-for-like ISO VG 46 oils we stock are Shell Tellus S2 VX 46 and Mobil DTE 10 Excel 46. All meet DIN 51524 Part 3 HVLP; check the OEM approval you need before switching, and never mix mineral hydraulic oil with fire-resistant or environmentally acceptable fluids.

This page is the 20 litre pail. The same oil is available as a 208 litre drum and a 1,000 litre IBC; drums work out cheaper per litre once a site uses more than about 200 litres a month. Prices are quoted per enquiry, the same working day; orders over €10,000 receive a 10% discount and we price-match like-for-like genuine product.
