Which equipment approvals does Shell Tellus S2 MX 32 carry?

Shell’s technical data sheet lists Tellus S2 MX 32 as designed to meet Bosch Rexroth Fluid Rating RDE 90245, Parker Denison HF-0, HF-1 and HF-2, Danfoss Vickers E-FDGN-TB002-E and Fives (Cincinnati Machine) P-68, alongside ISO 11158 (HM), DIN 51524 Part 2 HLP, ASTM D6158-05, Swedish Standard SS 15 54 34 AM, GB 11118.1-2011 L-HM and JCMAS P 041. If your pump or machine-tool manual names one of those, this is the oil it is asking for.

What is Shell Tellus S2 MX 32 used for?

ISO VG 32 is the thinner industrial grade — the usual choice for cooler sites, high-speed low-pressure pumps, machine tools, lifts and precision hydraulics where fast response matters more than film thickness at high temperature. For general industrial hydraulics running warm, most OEMs specify ISO 46 instead.

Shell recommends the high-viscosity-index Tellus S2 VX 32 where equipment sees wide temperature swings, and the S2 MX 46 grade where the machine manual calls for ISO 46.

Is Shell Tellus S2 MX 32 the same as Shell Tellus 32?

Yes — Shell renamed Tellus 32 to Tellus S2 M 32 and then to Tellus S2 MX 32 when the range moved to Group II base oil; it is the same ISO VG 32 HLP grade with the same OEM approvals, and it can be used to top up a system already running the older name.

Do not confuse it with Tellus S2 MA 32 (ashless, zinc-free) or Tellus S2 VX 32 (high viscosity index). We will check the grade you ask for against your equipment before we quote.

What are the equivalents to Shell Tellus S2 MX 32?

All meet DIN 51524 Part 2 HLP; check the OEM approval you need before switching, and never mix mineral hydraulic oil with fire-resistant or environmentally acceptable fluids.

This page is the 20 litre pack. The same oil is available as a 209 litre drum and as a 1,000 litre IBC on request; drums work out cheaper per litre once a site uses more than about 200 litres a month. Prices are quoted per enquiry, the same working day; orders over €10,000 receive a 10% discount and we price-match like-for-like genuine product.
