Mobilgear 600 XP 220 is Mobil’s ISO VG 220 extreme-pressure mineral industrial gear oil, and this is the genuine 20 litres pail supplied by Harlow Lubricants as an authorised Mobil distributor. It is the ISO 220 grade of Mobil’s mainstream EP gear oil range, the most common grade for medium-speed enclosed helical gearboxes.

Which equipment approvals does Mobilgear 600 XP 220 carry?

Mobil’s performance profile lists the 600 XP Series as meeting or exceeding AGMA 9005-EO2, DIN 51517-3 and ISO 12925, with Siemens AG Flender T 7300 builder approval (Table A-a and E-am); Mobil’s product data adds SEW-Eurodrive, Renk B19828 and ZF TE-ML 04F for the 220 grade, plus AGMA 9005-F16, DIN 51517-3:2018-09 and ISO L-CKD (ISO 12925-1). It carries a 12+ FZG scuffing stage and a 10/High FZG micropitting rating.

What is Mobilgear 600 XP 220 used for?

Mobil specifies the 600 XP Series for enclosed spur, helical, bevel and worm gearing in industrial and marine service: conveyors, agitators, dryers, extruders, fans, mixers, presses, pulpers, pumps and screens, plus marine propulsion, winches, windlasses and cranes. Non-gear uses include shaft couplings and heavily loaded slow-speed bearings.

For gearboxes that run hot, are hard to reach for oil changes, or need very long drain intervals, Mobil’s synthetic equivalent is Mobil SHC 630 (ISO 220). For worm drives with a PAG requirement, see Shell Omala S4 WE 220.

Is Mobilgear 600 XP 220 the same as Mobilgear 630?

Mobilgear 600 XP replaced the older Mobilgear 600 Series (Mobilgear 626–636) as Mobil’s mainstream mineral EP industrial gear oil, and 600 XP 220 is the ISO VG 220 grade in the current range; if your maintenance schedule still says Mobilgear 630, 600 XP 220 is the product to specify. It is not the same as Mobil SHC 630, which is the synthetic.

Do not confuse it with Mobil SHC 630 (synthetic PAO), Mobilgear 600 XP 320 (the next grade up) or Mobilube (automotive gear oil). We will check the grade and approval on the gearbox plate before we quote.

What are the equivalents to Mobilgear 600 XP 220?

If you are consolidating brands across a site, the like-for-like ISO VG 220 products we stock are Shell Omala S2 GX 220, Castrol Alpha SP 220 and Fuchs Renolin CLP 220. All meet DIN 51517-3 CLP; check the OEM approval you need before switching, and never mix mineral oils with PAG synthetics or fire-resistant fluids.

The same product is available as 208 L drum, and as a 1,000 litre IBC on request; drums and IBCs work out cheaper per litre once a site uses more than about 200 litres a month.
